Third edition of NEW DIMENSIONS LAB took place in Cape Town, South Africa in October 2018 and included augmented reality alongside virtual reality. We brought together nine creative participants from across Africa (Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe).
We were joined by eight African and international experts to train these nine individuals in 360 filmmaking and narratives created in a game engines, and also to provide creative feedback on their project ideas. This years creative advisors were: Gareth Steele and Rick Treweek (Eden / South Africa), Kamal Sinclair (Sundance New Frontier / USA), Ben Kreimer (storytelling technologist /USA & everywhere), Brian Afande and Michael Ilako (Black Rhino VR / Kenya), Yasmin Elayat (Scatter / USA) and Carl Roberts (Sound and Motion Studios / South Africa).
